Battambang, KH – Pak and his wife have been assisting vegetable garden families during COVID-19 – 29 Jun 2022

COVID’s impact on health and the economic survival has impacted many families, and most of the ones that Healthy Life mentors and assists have seriously suffered. They have been hardly able to sell their vegetables and buy other basic good items like rice and cooking oil, because the markets were often closed due to COVID risk. So the families planted less crops just for their own consumption and sharing with their neighbors.

The Healthy Life team faced the same difficulty, but are coming out of the worst of the COVID pandemic and still supporting and assisting each other in our Better Live team and community. Pak is one of our Healthy Life staff members who works actively to support families in the community. Since the beginning of COVID until now he and his family still plant vegetables, and they make compost to share with families around them and in the wider community. Pak visits families, shares the support from Healthy Life with them and encourages them to solve this difficult situation together.

He and his wife make compost and operate a seedling nursery, and then share the compost and seedlings with the people that Healthy Life is assisting. He encourages the families to continue planting vegetables as it contributes to their food supply during the COVID difficulty. He is assisting other families while supporting his wife and their five children who are in school.

It is hard to say, because every family in this world face challenges and the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, unpredictable weather and wars, but the Healthy Life manager Salee and Pak never stop hoping that people will love and live with each other peacefully. With this in their minds, they continue to assist other people with a good heart and kindness.
