Battambang, KH – Bicycles make it easier to attend temporary education during pandemic – 31 July, 2020

Three studious children Khim, Bimey and Nariya normally walk about 4 to 5 km to their school, but their school is now closed due to Coronavirus risk. This means they now have to walk 4 to 6 km to the nearest temporary education in a nearby community. The children love to go to school, even though they have to walk for a long time. Their teachers have praised them for studying hard despite their personal hardships, and have even suggested to Salee the manager of the Healthy Life Reinforcement Shop that his organization find bicycles for them.

Thanks to a generous contribution from the family of a student from Redland Green School, who unfortunately couldn’t visit Battambang with True Adventure this summer, Healthy Life Reinforcement has purchased the bicycles for these children of needy, hard working and motivated but impoverished parents. Khim is 12 years old in grade 6, Bimey is 10 years old in grade 5, and Nariya is 11 years old in grade 5. Their parents work very long hours in order to pay the school fees, but they sometimes cannot afford the school materials.

The bicycles are not only being used to go to school, but also for the family to transport vegetables to market to earn additional income to contribute to living expenses and school materials.

On behalf of the school, parents and children themselves, Salee the manager of Healthy Life Reinforcement gives a very big thank you to the family and Redland Green School, Bristol, UK for contributing to buy the bicycles for these children, and so support them as they travel each day to the far-away Coronavrus time teaching compound.
