Battambang, KH – Grandma cares for grandchildren’s education – 1 Oct, 2019

The three grandchildren, two sisters and their recenty arrived brother, are living with their grandma Mai near Battambang while their parents are away working in Thailand. Sadly, the parents are only able to send back a little money for the children’s support.

The sisters MN and MS are 9 and 7 years old. MN is in grade 4, where she is ranked 12 among 42 students in her class. MS is in grade 2, where she loves art and dance.

Their older brother MV is 12 years old now. He had been taken to live in Thailand with his parent for a few years where they worked as laborers on building projects. This meant that they moved from place to place, so MV could not go to school regularly.

Eventually Grandma insisted that his parents send him back to live with her so that he could go to school. He is now in grade 6, where is showing he is a smart and hardworking student. He enjoys Maths and literature, and is now ranking well in his class.

Grandma’s next objective is to find a way to purchase a bicycle for them to use to go to school.
