Phnom Penh, KH – Water and savings help a family escape poverty – 31 Dec 2014

Janne works for Tabatha in Cambodia where she has been helping alleviate the pain of others with the gift of water wells! For the past few years, her birthday has been about giving water to impoverished families. Water that changes and enhances the lives of those who, through no fault of their own, live lives that are stuck in poverty. Janne would like to share the story of a family that benefited from receiving a water well.

HouseTeng Vutha and his family received a birthday well in 2010. They were very poor like so many are, but with the well they were able to grow rice year round, and save some money to invest in starting to raise pigs and chickens.pigs

This gave them enough income to continue saving as part of the Tabitha savings program. Every savings cycle, the family would enhance their lives by buying items such as bicycles so that their children could go to school. They also saved to purchase a water pump for irrigation, and materials to build a new home.bikes

It was not easy to do this, and they had to work very hard. Sometimes they were very tired at the end of the day, but they never complained because it was all about building a better life. It was all about pulling themselves out of poverty so that their children could have opportunities in life.new home

Janne says “I am so grateful to my God for my life, for the blessings He has given – for the gift of my daughter Miriam. How better to celebrate than to bring a gift of life to others who struggle. I am bold and would like to share 660 water sources so that another 1,200 families may begin the journey of building a better life. Will you help me to do that?”
