Ngara, TZ – New School Kitchens – 9 May 2013

The school cooks have been cooking on “Mawe ya tatu” (three stones), which makes cooking for 2,166 students quite a challenge!  It is even harder when there are high winds and torrential rain which regularly visit this hill region near the Rwanda border.  The Kabalenzi and Mukibogoye primary schools needed new kitchens, so SODAT facilitated building them.

The new kitchens have high roofs that protect the cooks from the rain, while providing the necessary ventilation for the smoke from the fires.  Tables for hygienic counter space also contribute to a better work environment for the cooks and parent volunteers.
