We are a US-based non-profit that assists locally-run development organizations in East Africa and South East Asia. We invest in locally-run organizations because we believe sustainable development must come from the bottom up.
Our partner organizations collaborate with families and schools to implement programs that help children grow up healthy, educated, and able to earn an income.
3 principles guide our approach to work: Collaborative, Holistic, and Sustainable.
We provide management support based on first principles. When our partner organizations understand and apply first principles they can move towards financial and organizational self-reliance.
We provide technical support to our partners for programs in six focus areas: Access Resources, Apply Knowledge, Strengthen Health, Earn Income, Improve Home, and Enhance Education.
Specific projects include: water distribution systems, compost production, vegetable gardening, small business lending, home improvement, and school breakfast farming.
We believe that all children have the right and ability to self-actualize. In order for children to reach their potential and share it with the world, families must achieve sustainable food and income self-reliance. Sustainable self-reliance means that families can sustain life-improvements without ongoing charity.
We do this because when children are supported by self-reliant families and communities, they have the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated, and able to earn an income so they can support a family of their own and experience the joy of achievement and self-actualization.
